LEVON SEVUNTS WAR, REPORTING & REMEMBRANCE
Tuesday, November 9th, 2010The Montreal chapter of the Canadian Association of Journalists will hold an informal meet & greet social event on Thursday, November 11, starting at 7 p.m.
Levon Sevunts has agreed to be guest of honour.
Currently with Radio Canada International, the award-winning journalist began reporting in 1990, covering wars and civil strife in the Caucasus and Central Asia for a number of independent Russian and Armenian news outlets.
After coming to Canada in 1992, he mastered the English language and began writing a foreign affairs column in The Gazette. His work has since appeared in many newspapers, including the Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Toronto Star, the New York Times and the Washington Times.
In 2004, he was the first Canadian journalist to report from Darfur and, in 2005, he returned to Afghanistan, where he was embedded with Canadian and United States troops.
